Karen Klaus
Director of Spiritual Development and Family Ministries

I’m privileged to be called into a career that lets me live this truth “out-loud” and to inspire and teach others (of all ages!) how to do the same.

Favorite Bible verse
And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:3-5

What do you like to do outside of work?
My very favorite way to spend time is as a mom.  Music & singing are a passion, wrangling 2 small dogs, enjoying hikes and writing.

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in an eastern suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.  I moved to Chicagoland area in 2005.

What was your favorite thing about your childhood?
I’m the 3rd of 4 kids. Some of my favorite memories of childhood are when Mom, Dad and all us kids (and sometime friends) went on camping vacations.  We woudl go canoeing, sailing, exploring the woods of Pennsylvannia or beaches of Florida.  Campfires at night… popcorn popped over the flames…  ending the long day tucked into a sleeping bag.

What are the 3 favorite songs in your iTunes?
Im an eclectic when it comes to music:
Alleluia (Exsultate, jubilate) - Mozart
Children Will Listen (Into the Woods) - Sondeheim
Wonderful, Merciful, Savior (Selah) - Rodgers & Wyse
