Trip to Cantigny

Thursday, July 26th
Depart from Church at 9:30 a.m. and return to church by 4:30 p.m.

Cantigny is a 500-acre park in Winfield, Illinois, 30 miles west of Chicago. It is the former estate of Joseph Medill and his grandson Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publishers of the Chicago Tribune, and is open to the public. Cantigny includes large formal and informal gardens, two museums, a 27-hole golf course, a picnic grove, a playground, hiking paths, restaurants and a gift shop.

We’ll leave by carpool from the church at 9:30 a.m. After arrival at Cantigny we will begin at the Visitor’s Center and then we can divide up according to personal preferences. There is a WWI museum, the McCormick Mansion Tour, and the formal gardens. Lunch will be available for purchase at either Le Jardin Restaurant (salads, sandwiches, burgers, price range of $8-$14) or at Bertie’s Coffee Shop (sweet and savory treats, coffees, teas, ice cream, a few sandwich selections). To register, contact Cindy Henrickson in the church office. Reservation deadline is Sunday, July 22.
