On the second Sunday of Lent we learn that there are No Shortcuts for following Jesus. It’s not enough to:
- Just be a member of a church
- Be faithful church goers because our parents were
- Go to church because we think we are improving our moral character
- Go to church because it’s fun and entertaining
- Not go to church at all
Short-Cut Salvation is the route to Discount Discipleship: you can count yourselves as followers of Jesus without really, without actually, being a follower. You’re more like a fan of Jesus. But Jesus invites us to follow The Way, not just rush to a destination of our choosing.
Today if you hear God’s voice, run to the Savior who has paid full price, taken no short-cuts, and promises freedom and peace on the path that leads to life (Hebrews 3:15) Follow him.
