What Good Is A Little Water?

Session Date:
Sunday, January 21, 2018
Speaker:
Scott Field
Bible Text:
Mark 1:9-13; Acts 16:16-34

It isn’t unusual for significant events to make people open to the message of the gospel. Sometimes they are tragic events, times of loss or unwelcome change. Other times they are new opportunities and times of unexpected abundance or opportunity. And still other times, they are when something happens that seems to indicate it is time to come close to God instead of holding God at arm’s length.

When put upon our head the water of baptism, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, it is a sign that the gospel message has come to us, that we believe in Jesus as our Savior and have chosen to follow him as our Lord. Even more, it is the “O, Happy Day” because our hope is re-born and we are included in God’s community of love, justice, worship, and service. What difference does a little bit of water make? All the difference in the world.
