Contemplative Prayer Practices

by First Church
Christian tradition offers a wealth of experiences promoting a deep communion with God. There is no greater spiritual reward than finding a particular practice that allows you to connect with the Spirit of God in a vital, life-giving manner. Ancient and contemporary practices of contemplative prayer are means to that grace. This study will offer teaching and experience in six contemplative modes of prayer: centering prayer, lectio divina/meditation on scripture, examen, journaling, the Jesus prayer and silence/listening prayer. To register, call the church office (815.459.0785).
