September 11 | 10 a.m. Worship, 11 a.m. Tailgating
Our official fall launch begins with Tailgate Sunday and this year it’s going to be better than ever. Here’s what we’ve got planned:
Worship: The day starts with one service for everyone at 10 a.m. It’ll feature hymns, the choir, the praise team, and a presentation of Bibles to kids and youth. It’s our last “blended” service before we resume our regular worship schedule (9:15 traditional, 10:45 contemporary).
Tailgating: Bring-your-own everything! Food, chairs, games, decorations, the kids…everything! Pack it into your car and set up for a picnic after church. Traditionally, you bring a grill and cook at the back of your vehicle where you’ve parked (hence, “tailgating”) but just about anything is fair game. The emphasis is on sharing and being together and making new friends.
Community Food: Not everyone is up for tailgating, and we’re cool with that. We’ll have pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, drinks, etc. available for everyone who wants in on the fun but isn’t able to tailgate. We just want you there!
Kids Games: We’ll have a bounce-house and games for kids, 9-Square for youth in addition to the myriad of games and activities provided by tailgaters. One thing is for certain: there will be no bored kids on Tailgate Sunday.
Classic Cars: Have a classic car (or even just a “rad” one) you can display? Our hope is to have a small classic car section as a new addition to this year’s event. Be in touch with Tyler if you’ve got a vehicle you’d like to be included.
Food Bingo: One of the best parts of tailgating? Walking around and trying everyone’s favorite cookout recipes. This year, pick up a food bingo card and see if you can turn sampling everyone’s goodies into a prize fit for a foodie.
Bags Tournament: Test your skills against the best bag tossers in the congregation. Look for a doubles tournament board signup at church the next few weeks or contact Isaac Mahler to be entered. Open to all youth and adults.
