Persisting In Prayer
During Jesus’ time among us, the rabbis/teachers would instruct their disciples in the way of prayer.
They would prescribe to their students’ particular times and prayers – as a path to faithfulness and
thus righteousness. So, it was not particularly unusual for Jesus’ disciples to ask him to instruct them.
In Luke 11: 1-13, God revealed what Jesus thought was important when it came to prayer.
And so, this is the scenario which birthed the prayer we have set to memory and which has become the most highly recognized and shared prayer for all Christians: The Lord’s Prayer.
