VOLUNTEER AREAS

Buddy Break

Buddy Break is a free respite care program where children with special needs and their siblings have fun and make new friends. Parents and caregivers get a much-needed break from the ongoing responsibilities of caregiving for a child with special needs. All children, ages 6 months to 18 years, have the opportunity to come play and make new friends. We match each child with her or her own specially trained Buddy for the day to maintain the highest levels of care and safety.

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Ministry serves First Church with a focus on making certain that all who enter our church building feel the love of Christ and the welcome of our congregation.

Greeters: Greeters are the welcoming team that warmly greets everyone with a handshake and a smile as their enter our church on their way into our worship service.

Fellowship Ministries

Fellowship Ministries provides church members with the opportunity to develop closer relations with fellow Christians through a relaxed coffee time after each worship service. It is our intent that through fellowship we will not only strengthen but also develop friendships within our church community. The purpose of this group is to just get better acquainted and enjoy Christian fellowship.

Friday Food Ministry

Funeral Reception Ministry

Funeral Reception Ministry is to offer to members of our congregation food for a reception at the church or at the home of the member following the funeral. This ministry has members of our congregation that have volunteered to bring food or assist with the reception.

Nursing Home Ministry

Our Nursing Home Ministry ministers to the residents of Crystal Pines Nursing Home at 2:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month and to the residents of The Fountains Retirement/Nursing Home at 10:00 a.m. on the fifth Thursday of those months that have a fifth Thursday.

The service consists of singing many familiar songs along with a short message, prayer, and celebration of monthly birthdays. All are welcome to assist in this very meaningful ministry.

Acolytes

Children 2nd grade through 6th grade have the opportunity to help in our Cornerstone worship service. After a short, one time training the children are placed on a schedule to carry the light into the Sanctuary at the beginning of the worship service before heading to their kids ministry. They usually serve once a month or every 6 weeks or so.

Ushers

This is an important role in welcoming members and guests into worship each week. The role of an usher is to welcome individuals as they come into the Sanctuary, make sure they have a bulletin and finding a seat if necessary. Always being aware of individuals arriving late and being ready to serve where needed. The other responsibility is collecting the offering each week as well. This schedule is on a rotation basis.

Greeters

This is an important role in welcoming members and guests into our building each week. The role of an greeter is to be a “host” of our church and welcome individuals with a smile and a friendly greeting when they come in the building. The greeters are most often the first experience individuals have when entering our building for worship each week. This schedule is on a rotation basis.

AV Team

Interesting in getting connected and helping the church community through video or audio? Volunteer to help out in the sound booth. You’ll learn how to work on a sound board or record and connect people to Christ through visual experiences.

Helping to pick up the donuts, helping to set up in the mornings, helping to oversee the food and coffee stations during Wesley Cafe’ and helping to tear down and clean. If you volunteer you will be on a rotating schedule to help.

Prayer Chain Ministry

Prayer Chain Ministry is another aspect of Caring Ministries. This e-mail ministry enables the church to respond to immediate prayer needs. Prayers are received via phone, email or written prayer requests and are sent via email to those in the church family who have volunteered to pray for any prayer concerns. Some people also choose to send cards of encouragement to those who have requested prayer.
