First Church is a praying community. If you have prayer needs, fill out this simple form to get your concerns on our prayer chain.
Food Ministries
We sponsor a free food pickup ministry every Friday between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Visit our Friday Food Ministry located at The Chapel (1809 Rt. 31) in McHenry. You don’t need to sign up or give us any information. You’ll go home with a box of groceries that can help you get through the week - no questions asked.
Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulty in their lives.
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Our GriefShare meets weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Send us a message if you'd like to be in touch with the leaders.
Recovery Groups
We host a few recovery groups throughout the week. They exist to help you break the cycle of addiction in your life. To connect with a recovery group, see the schedule below.
AA - Tuesday Nights - 7 p.m.
OA - Thursdays - 12 p.m.
SA - Thursdays - 7 p.m.
AA - Friday Nights - 5:30 p.m. & 8 p.m.
OA - Saturday Mornings - 10 a.m.

I need help with bills
We may be able to help you with utilities or rent. Resources are limited, but if you have a specific need call our office (815.459.0785) or send us a message.
I need help with meals
If you've just had a baby or are having a family crisis and could use a few meals to get through the week, we have a meal train that can provide for your family. Find our staff page and leave a note with Bill Muilkens for more details.
I need to speak with someone
If you just need someone to talk to, we're here for that too. Send one of us a message and we'll set up a time to connect.
